John D. Bonanno, MD is a senior plastic surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He is the former Attending-in-Charge of Plastic Surgery at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and the former Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY where he created a program in hand and microvascular surgery and trained young plastic surgeons, many of whom are in esteemed practice today. Dr. John Bonanno has been on the plastic surgery staff of many premier New York Hospitals and is a respected specialist in cosmetic surgery, especially nasal and facial plastic surgery, and cosmetic surgery of the breast. He has operated on many well-known public figures, actors and actresses, performers, models, and professionals including many of his plastic surgical colleagues and their families.
Dr. John Bonanno received his bachelors degree in chemistry and mathematics from New York University. He was born in Italy and speaks fluent Italian. He earned his M.D. degree, "Summa cum Laude" at the University of Rome and trained in general surgery at St. Luke's Hospital and Medical Center, NY. He subsequently completed his training in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, NY where he was chosen as the Chief Resident in his senior year. Dr. John Bonanno completed his training in Plastic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, NY. Many of his plastic surgery mentors were world renowned cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons such as John M. Converse, Thomas Rees, Carey Guy, Blair Rogers, Michael Hogan, Richard Stark, Gustave Aufricht, and Edgar Berry.
Dr. John Bonanno is an active member of the New York County Medical Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the American Medical Association and is the former president of the Morgani Medical Society. He has served on numerous committees of these societies.
Throughout his career, Dr. John Bonanno has regularly appeared in the media on major local and national television and radio networks and continues to be a sought-after media consultant in plastic surgery.
Dr. John Bonanno has been teaching Plastic Surgery throughout his career and has developed many unique solutions to plastic surgical challenges. Matthew J. Bonanno, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery of the nose, eyes, face, breast, and body. He is a Clinical Instructor for the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship Programs at Lenox Hill Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. His research in plastic surgery has been presented at various regional, national, and international meetings and he has contributed to numerous articles in plastic surgery journals. Dr. Matthew Bonanno is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, the New York County Medical Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the American Medical Association. He serves on the Medical Ethics Committee and Medical Practice Ethics Committee for the Medical Society of the State of New York, as well as the Public Relations Committee, Membership Task Force, and the Young Physicians Advisory Committee for the New York County Medical Society. Dr. Matthew Bonanno is currently the Assistant Treasurer of the New York County Medical Society. He is also a past president of the Morgagni Medical Society and currently serves on the society’s Board of Directors.
